The heat shield is actually more substantial than it looks in the photos—it really keeps the carbon fiber from scorching. Snugged up perfectly on my system's connection points with no fuss.

Finally found the clamp with the built-in heatshield—mounting was straightforward and it sits flush against the pipe. The carbon fiber weave looks clean and seems like it'll hold up fine.
